One of the most spectacular times of the year is here. Autumn is a magnificent time to visit the New Forest. Take a look at some of the reasons you should visit this autumn and stay with us at Pinewood Cottage…

Autumn colours

You won’t regret coming to the New Forest in autumn. The trees are adorned with beautiful displays of gold, red and orange leaves. Stay with us and you are literally a stone’s throw from the open forest – perfect for those autumn walks.

Go pig spotting

During the autumn months, New Forest commoners are allowed to release their pigs into the forest. The pigs are there to eat the fallen acorns which are poisonous to our New Forest ponies. This tradition, known as pannage, dates back hundreds of years.

The New Forest Walking & Cycling Festival returns

The popular New Forest Walking & Cycling Festival is set to return from 15 October – 6 November. Walks will be available to book from 3 October. Come along and discover parts of the New Forest National Park that you aren’t familiar with or join in with some of the social walk opportunities.

Enjoy your own autumn walks

There are so many walks you can enjoy in the New Forest. The New Forest website has lots of information on the types of walks available to you.
