Spring will soon be around the corner! We have already spotted our first crocuses and primroses out and about and there will soon be plenty more colour brightening up the New Forest.
There’s plenty to see and do in the area surrounding Pinewood Cottage in the spring from beautiful walks in the abundant nature through to visiting some of our local attractions.
Here’s a feel for what you could do if you book a spring break with us…
Exbury Gardens
Make a visit to Exbury Gardens in late spring for the impressive display of rhododendrons and azaleas. The gardens really come to life at this time of year so don’t forget your camera!
Bluebell woods
Go in search of some of the New Forest’s bluebell woods. Close to us, you can expect to find them at Furzey Gardens and along the cycle path between Brockenhurst and Bank. You can find out more about the New Forest’s bluebell displays on the Go New Forest website.
Spot some of the new arrivals!
Take a wander through the National Park and you may just be lucky enough to see some of the New Forest Pony foals with their mums. Just make sure you keep your distance from them.
Days out to remember
Many of the seasonal attractions will be reopening for the 2023 season during spring. If you are travelling with children then be sure to check out ever-popular Paultons Park (with Peppa Pig World for the smaller children). You’ll also find family favourites such as Adventure Wonderland and Longdown Activity Farm within an easy drive of our cottage.
Head to Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary
The daily feeding of the fallow deer at Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary starts in April. Head to the deer viewing platform between 12.30pm-2.30pm to see the feeding take place. There are also some enjoyable walks to do from the Bolderwood car park.
